Established in 1944, the Brookings County Conservation District lies in the Big Sioux Valley of east central South Dakota. The Big Sioux River cuts through the county from north to south nearly dividing the county in half. The county is beautified by the following lakes: Campbell, Hendricks, Oak Lake, Oakwood, Poinsett and Sinai. Some of South Dakota's richest farmland is located in Brookings County. Our Mission:The mission of Brookings County Conservation District is to ensure the conservation stewardship and wise use of the natural resources.
